Alright, so I laughed out loud on the first page when I read about Greg’s New Year’s resolution—he decided that he didn’t really need any improving so he was going to work on improving others for his resolution.  The entire book captures the pitfalls of being a middle brother, a pre-teenager and a wimpy kid.  His antics at school and home are of the slapstick variety and told in a journal format.  The illustrations are just one step above stick figures and fit Kinney’s humor to a tee.  This would be a great book for a reluctant reader or pre-teen boys.  There is no real substantive story line, just one comical interaction after another.  So if you are looking for a few chuckles and slapstick comedy this is a book for you!  The cover reveals the humor that lies within and will definitely attract the pre-teen reader.  Jeff Kinney started posting Diary of a Wimpy Kid online before he published his first book.  He gets 70,000 kids a day reading his daily diary of Greg Huffley at funbrain.com.
