Living Dead Girl By Elizabeth Scott
New York Simon Pulse 2008 170p.
TAGS: Realistic Fiction, Terror
This story is a “ripped from headlines” type of book, about Alice a ten year old girl who gets abducted from a class field trip. The story is told in very short chapters, as Alice recalls the daily horrors that await her. She remains captive for five years with the mentally disturbed Ray. Alice often describes her short life as a ‘living dead girl’, dead on the inside, alive in flesh only. What keeps her from running and what keeps her alive are detailed in Scott’s gripping novel of terror and abuse. Although abuse not discussed in detail, this book is only appropriate for Senior High Students. Readers won’t be able to put down this book or stop talking about it.
