Call Me Mrs. Miracle
By Debbie Macomber
MIRA Books 2010
I do love Christmas stories–they are like fairytales to me! This book is no exception–it is modeled off the story of Miracle on 34th Street. Jake is the son of a very successful department store owner where he runs the toy department–dad and son have not celebrated Christmas since his wife and daughter were killed Christmas Eve some years ago. He is good at what he does, his dad just doesn’t know it yet.
Holly Larson is single, attractive and works a very stressful job for a fashion designer in New York City. She has always had a busy life but now her nephew Gabe, 8 years old has come to stay with her while her brother is shipped off overseas with the service. She has never really felt very motherly but she would do anything for her brother since his wife died. Gabe was a good kid, Holly just did not know what to do with him especially since money was so tight.
Gabe get his heart set on a very expensive robot for Christmas. In steps Mrs. Merkle (Miracle) and Holly and Jake meet and a romance ensues. A Christmas story with a fairytale ending
Although very predictable it was a delightful quick read for the holidays!
