Mouse an orphan, finds herself out on the streets with nowhere to turn.  During Medieval times this is a death sentence for children. Mouse gets befriended by a gruff Puppeteer and she decides that this is what she wants to do with her life.  She begs to be taken on as an apprentice but her clumsiness keeps getting in the way.  The puppeteer has dark secrets that keeps him on edge and makes them move from town to town until the dark secrets catch up with them.  Does little Mouse have the courage to overcome all of these obstacles and make a life for herself? This is a great, quick read, historical novel that will have the reader cheering for Mouse.
