Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson

Little Brown and Company

Grades 5-8 (some violence)

I am not a sci-fi fan but I have to say I loved this book. I listened to this one on my way to and from work. It is full of adventure, good vs. evil and mystery. Max and her flock of 5 are mutant human children. They have had bird DNA injected into them so they all have wings and most have some other special other power. I would love to experience what it must be like for Max and her flock to fly—what exhilaration! Max (the oldest at 14 and leader of the group), Iggy, Gazzy, Fang, Nudge and the youngest, 6 year old Angel. They were raised in the “school,” a laboratory that did unspeakable experiments, until 4 years ago when Jeb, one the scientists broke them out and set them up in the secluded mountain home. All is going well until the “other children from the school” the erasers (mutant children who can morph into wolfmen) kidnap Angel and take her back to the school for more experiments. Can these mutant children break into the school to get Angel back? After all they are just children. This book is full of adventure and themes of family, friends and flight! I can’t wait to read the next one!
